Almost every single smartphone and tech companies have also forayed into developing their own branded earbud accessories. Likewise, Xiaomi is no different from the trend. Xiaomi’s series of Truly Wireless Stereo (TWS) earbuds are a fast growing range of accessories to enhance and elevate their customers’ user experiences. Notably, none of their previously launched Mi TWS earbuds have any form of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC).
If reports are to be believed, that’s about to change. As per a new Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) certification, they are planning to introduce Active Noise Cancellation to their Mi Range of Truly Wireless Stereo earbuds. Even the products are called the Mi Active Noise Cancelling Wireless Earphones.
The Bluetooth SIG certification website listing reveals that it is even supposed to come with Bluetooth 5.0 support. Mi TWS earbuds are also expected to support audio codecs such as AAC (Advanced Audio Coding) and SBC (Sub Band Codec). It will even have IPX4 ingress protection rating certification to show for its better and improved durability. The report further states that the product has the model number LYXQEJ05WM.
As per the report, the Mi TWS ANC earbuds may be priced slightly on the higher side of the spectrum, positioned as a more premium option for their existing range of wireless earphones and earbuds. Apart from this, not much else is revealed from the report. It is still unclear as to the possible release dates or other specs of the accessory.
However, it is entirely possible that they may be launched along with their new flagship phone, the Mi 10 Pro+. However, contrary to the product in question, their Mi 10 Pro+ is rumoured to feature a headphone jack. So, the earbuds can be bundled together with the phone but it seems more likely for them to be sold as separate accessories.
Previously, some months back, Xiaomi had launched the Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 with a design that was very much similar to Apple’s AirPods. They sported 14.2mm dynamic drivers on the inside. Although they didn’t have ANC, they did feature environmental cancellation that is said to suppress about 90% of the ambient noise. They also have ‘one step pairing’ that enables Xiaomi smartphones to detect the earbuds whenever they are turned on and are nearby.
Xiaomi claims that their Mi True Wireless Earphones 2 provide an unmatched audio performance and support both Android and iOS devices. They are even compatible with Apple’s Siri, Google Assistant as well as Amazon’s Alexa on smartphone devices.
Given that the newer Mi Active Noise Cancelling Wireless Earphones, that is in the works can be marketed as a more premium and perhaps a pricier alternative, they may have upgraded specs and showcase an improved battery life.
However for the moment, we are still in the dark about what the actual specs will be. We may get to learn more when Xiaomi launches their next flagship model or as we go closer to the launch of Xiaomi’s Mi 10 Pro+.
