Xiaomi silently added a notebook to the Redmi Air series laptops which was announced in China today and will be called as RedmiBook Air 13. The notebook is ultrathin, has a great design and is a lightweight laptop as the name “Air” suggests, that goes perfect for students and freelancers. It has an all-metal-body,12.99mm thick and weighs only 1.05kg.
Specifications:
RedmiBook Air 13 has got a 13.3” display at 2560×1600 pixel resolution with 16:10 aspect ratio that supports 100% sRGB color gamut and has a peak brightness value of 300nits. There is also an additional feature of DC dimming to the setting. The DC dimming feature reduces the current or voltage to the backlight to reduce the brightness. The laptop is not touch-screen and does not have a webcam either.
The laptop provides a high level performance with Intel’s 10th generation, the Intel core i5 processor and integrated graphics chipset. The quad-core 10th-generation Intel Core i5-10210Y CPU with a base clock of 1GHz ,a Turbo Boost of up to 4.5GHz paired with up to 16GB of DDR3 RAM and 512GB SSD for storage. The laptop comes with the most used Microsoft Windows 10 pre-installed. The specifications seem good for gaming purposes also, but obviously for not long time which leads to high consumption of battery.
Battery:
RedmiBook Air 13 is fueled by a 41Wh battery that lasts for more than 8 hours as said by the company. The battery can be charged using a 65W USB type-C adapter which is included in the box. The laptop does not heat up during heavy or long usage, it cools the internal using an all-copper heat dissipation module.
Connectivity:
It features two USB type-C ports, a 3.5mm audio jack and has support for the latest WiFi 6 and bluetooth 5.1.
Price and Availability:
Xiaomi has started the pre-orders for the laptop in China and will be going on sale from August 7th. The Redmibook Air 13 comes in two configurations and one color option. There is 8GB + 512GB SSD and 16GB + 512GB SSD. The company did a good thing by putting only SSD in both variants for faster data transfers. The base 8GB RAM variant comes at a price of CNY 4,699 which is roughly Rs. 50,600 and the 16GB RAM variant comes at a price of CNY 5,199 which is roughly Rs. 56,000.
The company has not made any announcement on releasing the laptop in India and other global markets as of now. We will be hearing about the announcement soon in the coming months. The laptop is one affordable, sleek designed and has powerful performance on it. It is a good option to have if you are looking to buy a notebook.
