Xiaomi is launching Mi TV Stick in India on August

Xiaomi has officially announced their Fire TV stick’s rival, Mi TV stick. The company has announced on their social media accounts with a “Plug It Make It Smart” hashtag and a line “THE FIRE YOUR TV HAS BEEN MISSING”, probably trying to get Amazon. The post says that they will be releasing the device on August 5th at 12 Noon in India.

Mi TV Stick was already released in Europe around last month and is almost like the Fire TV stick. It was released for EUR 39.99. And now they all are set to release it in India too.

The stick is basically a dongle to your TV. It fits in the HDMI port of your TV and makes any normal TV a smart TV. Mi Stick is the smallest and affordable Device to have a smart TV. These days smart TV is essential for everyone but can’t afford or are not willing to get a new TV. Let’s take a look about the stick. It can be connected to a TV, monitor or projector that has a HDMI port.

The stick supports most of the video streaming platforms like Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+, etc. This stick will offer the Android TV 9.0 Pie version, so is little flexible on apps and features. It supports a Full HD video resolution of 1920 x 1080 pi at 60fps. It comes with a built-in so you can stream your phone’s screen or other apps wirelessly on your big screen.

Mi TV Stick has a bundled Bluetooth Remote that has the hot buttons of Netflix,Prime video that takes you to the app directly when pressed. It also has support to Google assistant and a hot button for that too. The audio supports DTS and Dolby audio. It is expected that Netflix, Prime Video, Disney+ and Spotify apps are to be pre-installed.

Inside the device there’s a quad-core Cortex-A53 processor inside that is paired with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage. There’s no HDR specified so the quality depends on your TV’s resolution.

On paper it is so much similar to Amazon’s Fire TV stick. So now it’s up to you whether to choose Alexa or Google. About the price, it was around ₹ 3,500 in Europe but will be cheaper than that in India because Mi Box 4k was costing around ₹ 3,499.
