WWDC 2021 will introduce iOS 15 and macOS 12, what should you expect from Apple?

Apple Inc.’s Worldwide Developers Conference or WWDC 2021 which is an information technology conference focused mainly on software launches and is held annually is starting today at 10:30 p.m. IST and will be open till June 11. Due to the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic situation, the event will be held online this time, potentially on either the Apple Developer site or the app but it will also be live streamed on the company’s website and also on its YouTube channel and will also be available on Apple TV, iPhone and iPad so that even consumers can watch the event apart from the developers.

The WWDC 2021 event will kick-start with a keynote presentation and speech by Apple CEO Tim Cook and other Apple executives as reported by several media. Following the keynote presentation and speech are scheduled the online developer sessions.

Though this event is usually focused on software releases and launches, this year there are rumours that Apple is going to launch a hardware device too at the event – the new device in the Macbook Pro series. Other software launches that are reportedly scheduled to happen at the event are the updated versions of its operating systems which will likely be the iOS 15, the iPadOS 15, the macOS 12, the watchOS 8 and the tvOS 15.

The main highlight at this year’s event is undoubtedly the iOS 15 launch which will be released with new features like notification management as per the current status set by the user, privacy feature improvement etc. Another highlight of the event is the iPadOS update with the new iPadOS 15 having features like widget placement anywhere on the home screen and introduction of a new multitasking feature. It is also reported that the brand is also making plans to update iMessage and it will have many features similar to that in the messaging app WhatsApp.

Apple will also reportedly make announcements of new versions of its operating systems namely, iOS, watchOS, macOS and tvOS. The upgraded versions of these will be the iOS 15, the watchOS 8, the macOS 12 and the tvOS 15 respectively. As speculated, the company is set to launch a new variant of MacBook Pro with a new design and makeover as well as there are rumours that it will be launched in two display screen sizes – 14 and 16 inches and will sport a new Apple Silicon named ‘M1X.’

Lastly, the company has plans to release details about its upcoming headset that is set to be released next year and is rumoured to be built on the concept of mixed reality. This headset will sport LiDAR and ToF sensors as per various leaks and reports and will be priced at around Rs. 2,19,400. More details about all these updates and launches are expected to be released by the company at the event itself.
