Windows 11 Features – Redesigned Start Menu, Widgets, New Icons and many more
American multinational technology company Microsoft is going to organize a virtual event on June 24 titled “What’s Next for Windows” at 8:30 p.m. IST. This event is likely in view of the new OS update – the Windows 11 which is definitely the company’s major update since the last Windows 10 release in the year 2015. Microsoft’s Windows 11 will introduce a number of new features, some of which have already leaked.
Some screenshots have leaked on June 15 on a Chinese website called ‘Baidu Tieba’ by a user giving an insight about the new Windows 11 build and what to expect from this new update. The screenshots give a hint about several features that are likely to be included in the new update. Afterwards, the Windows 11 ISO file was leaked, allowing anyone to install the operating system.

Let’s take a detailed look at all these features mentioned above.
1. New start menu design
As per the screenshots that have been leaked, the new Windows 11 will have a completely new design for the Start menu. Instead of featuring the live tiles which allows users to navigate pinned apps by the user and also the recommended applications, the new start menu will show standard and simplified icons to explore the pinned and recommended apps.
2. Task bar at the center
The task bar in the new Windows will be present at the center and will feature a button to add new widgets as per the user requirements. This new approach renders a more simple and refreshing look to the Windows.
3. Colourful File explorer icons
Another change is in the look of the file explorer icons that have been made more colourful for different folders giving a new look to the documents.
4. Rounded corners on Windows and menus
The most noticeable change is that the Windows and menus in the new Windows will feature rounded corners and edges giving a more jolly look given that the file explorer icons are more colourful as mentioned earlier.
5. Search box pop up
The leaked screenshots have further revealed that to open the search box users will now have to click on the icon that is in a magnifying glass design. Earlier, this was done by searching in the search bar available in the task bar itself.
6. New sounds
Windows 11 will feature new sounds like Asterisk other than those that you heard in the earlier versions. Even some leaks suggest that the Windows 11 startup sound has also been revamped.
7. New touch gestures
New touch gestures have been added in Windows 11. For instance, four finger tap will let users switch virtual desktops without any hassle.
8. Snap assist menu
This is yet another feature that has been added according to the leaks which will allow users to snap their Windows in quarters or on both screen sides if they hover over the minimizing or maximizing button.
9. New Widgets
Windows 11 now includes widgets that display time, weather, news, and stock information more effectively.
Till now the Microsoft hasn’t revealed much about the update officially and so all the information basically relies on the leaks and rumours over the internet. Detailed information is expected to be released by Microsoft on the June 24 event.
