What to expect from Apple’s WWDC 2021

And we are just a few days away from Apple’s annual developer conference, WWDC 2021. WWDC is a platform that Apple generally uses to talk about its latest software & updates. 

WWDC 2021 will kick off, starting from Monday next week (7 June)where all the new software updates will be shown off. Conventionally, Apple mostly talked about its upcoming software at WWDC, but in the past Apple has used this platform to launch a few hardware as well. 

So, we can expect a few hardwares and some software updates to be launched at WWDC

There have been several reports & leaks rendering about what we can expect or might see at WWDC 2021. And, to make it easy for you we have looked around & gathered all the useful information, regarding WWDC 2021. In this article we are going to share those details with you, keep reading on!

The first thing to know about WWDC 2021 is it’s going to be an all-online event, due to Covid-19 pandemic. WWDC 2021, developer conference will last for 5 days from 7 June – 11 June. The opening keynote of WWDC 2021 is Tim Cook, CEO, Apple followed by few other executives. 

The WWDC will start on Monday at 10:30 PM IST, mark the date & time if you want to tune in. 

New MacBook Pro

The big announcement at WWDC 2021 we can expect is the launch of the new MacBook Pro. Rumour has it that the upcoming MacBook Pro will come in two variants:- a 14-inch and 16-inch model. The two models might have battery capacities different from the current one. 

Next Gen Apple Silicon

Apple’s upcoming MacBook Pro models are expected to be running on an all new Apple designed Mac Chip. And, this is the second best announcement we can expect from Apple. 

According to reports, Apple has been working on a new Apple Silicon. And, will deliver an all new revamped processor for Mac devices, suggestively named as M2 or M1X. The new processor might bring some new features & updates to existing processor M1. 

iOS 15

To tell you more about upcoming software, Apple will supposedly launch a new operating system for iPhone iOS 15. iOS 15 will bring a new look & features to iMessages application and may roll-out later in September. 

As of now the iOS beta version is already available for developers to run some tests, and we are expecting the launch of its public beta at WWDC 2021.

iPadOS 15

The launch of iOS 15, is expected to be followed by the launch of iPadOS 15. So, the upcoming iPadOS 15 may allow users to put widgets anywhere on the home screen. And, you can expect a smaller home-screen customization as well.

watchOS 8 and macOS 12

Subsequently, Apple might introduce the new macOS and watchOS 8. Even so, the changes in macOS are only minimal, but we may see a set of new health features with upcoming watchOS 8.
According to leaks, watchOS 8 may include an Assistive Touch feature, which will help users to control the Apple watch just by gestures. Other features include sleep tracking, hand-wash reminder, more workout options & even more.

tvOS 15

Further, you can expect a Software upgrade for Apple TV, i.e., tvOS 15. Rumour has it, tvOS 15 might bring a few parental control tools, targeted to introduce a children-friendly television mode. And, it might bundle a few more features, but unfortunately we don’t know about that now.

New homeOS

Lastly, Apple is rumoured to launch ‘Mystery’ HomeOS, an exclusive software from Apple. As its name suggests, Home OS, we think it is targeted to improve HomePod. 

Well, this is quite a lot to take in, and there can be more. Just to remind you, all this information is solely based on leaks, suggestive reports, & rumours, and the official announcement might differ, so take everything with a grain of salt.
