BBK Electronics owned Chinese smartphone company, Vivo may be working on yet another smartphone device. This is highly probable going by reports of a new Vivo device listed on other platforms. The device in question is none other than another addition to the Vivo Y series line up. It will likely be the Vivo Y20, a successor of last year launched, November 2019’s Vivo Y19.
The Vivo Y20 was, reportedly, seen listed on the cross-platform processor benchmark platform Geekbench 5. The Geekbench 5 listing reveals some features of the latest upcoming addition to the Vivo Y series of handset devices. We will come to those features later. Apart from the Geekbench 5 listing, the SDPPI Indonesian certification platform had also approved and certified and approved the device named Vivo Y20.
Geekbench 5 Listing
The device had the model number Vivo V2027 on its Geekbench 5 listing. It managed to get a score of 252 for the single core test. Meanwhile, for the multi core test, the device had scored a total of 1,239. The device has the code name ‘bengal’ for the motherboard, as per the listing.
Some reports claim that the code name ‘bengal’ could perhaps belong to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662. Contrarily, there are some other reports that claim that the code name ‘bengal’ belongs to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 SoC chip set instead. So, the Vivo device could have either of these Snapdragon processors and will have a 4 GB RAM as per the listing. The Geekbench 5 listing also shows that it will run on the Android 10 OS straight out of the box. The device’s Qualcomm octa-core processor is expected to have a base frequency of 1.8GHz, going by the listing.
If the Vivo Y20 does have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 SoC chip set, it will be the first ever Vivo smartphone to be powered by this chip set and backed by a 4 GB RAM. Other specifications about the device currently remain unknown. We are all in the dark as the company has also not made any communication in this regard.
However, the price range can be around that of the Vivo Y19 or a tad bit higher. This is due to the very high probability of the Vivo Y20 to be a similar budget phone from the Vivo brand.
But as always, it is advisable to take the single and multi core test scores in the listing with a pinch of salt, especially since they can be easily manipulated. Even the specs and features of the device could be of a prototype. They could be much different from that of the final launch. So it is best to wait for further communications from Vivo itself. Meanwhile, Vivo fans, stay tuned for any future leaks on this upcoming budget phone!
