Vivo S1 Prime launched with Snapdragon 665 SoC and Quad Camera

Vivo has silently announced a new phone in the S-series, called Vivo S1 Prime which was launched in Myanmar. The phone seems like a simple rebranded version of the Vivo S1 Pro released previously in India.

The device comes with a water drop notch screen. It has a 6.38” FULL HD+ (1,080×2,340 pixels) super AMOLED display, 90% screen-to-body ratio. The screen goes bright enough to work under the sun and the colors are vivid and comfortable for the eyes. The U-shaped water drop notch is kind of an outdated design for the phones releasing these days.

The phone features in-display fingerprint sensor and a face unlock for security. The face unlock is not so fast but the fingerprint sensor is fast like other similar phones.

The phone is powered by the Octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 SoC, Adreno 610 GPU paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The storage can also be expandable upto 256GB using a micro SD card. The Snapdragon 665 is a mid-range chipset which works decently for work and gaming. Heavy-duty games won’t work so well with the chipset.

The device comes with the Android 9 Pie version that runs along with FunTouch OS 9.2 on top.

Coming to the camera, on the rear the phone has a quad camera shaped which is diamond-shaped and consists of a a 48-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.8 lens, an 8-megapixel secondary sensor with an ultra-wide-angle f/2.2 lens, a 2-megapixel sensor with an f/2.4 lenses for depth sensing and a 2-megapixel lens for macro photography. In the water drop notch, a 16MP selfie camera is housed with an f/2.0 lens. The camera shoots 1080p videos at 30fps on both the front and rear camera. The camera is great on paper but has okay-ish performance in real life.

The phone has 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and USB Type-C port for connectivity and networking.

Battery & Charging

The phone has a 4500mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging. The battery keeps the phone running all day for normal usage. The phone has almost the same features like the Vivo S1 pro released in India only differs by using the 32mp selfie camera.

Price and availability:

The Vivo S1 Prime is priced at MYR 389,800 (roughly Rs. 21,700). There is only one 8GB + 128GB storage Variant and comes in two colour options – Jade Black and Nebula Blue.

The device is already on sale in Malaysia on the Vivo online store. There is no information about the releasing of the phone in India or in other global markets yet.
