Users are now able to block contacts on Tinder based on a phone number

Over the past few years, the overview of dating in India has completely changed. Youth now prefer finding a partner online through dating apps, and Tinder is one of the most popular dating platforms. Tinder introduces a new feature in which users can block contacts based on their phone numbers.

Dating through these apps also brings the fear of running into your acquaintances such as relatives, colleagues, neighbours, friends or even worse your ex. And due to this reason, many people also avoid dating through these dating apps.

To tackle this problem of running into knowns, Tinder, one of the world’s biggest dating app companies has now introduced a feature in which you can block your knowns through your contact list.

The company has announced that it will allow its users to block people from their contact lists. Earlier, users had no way to avoid people from their contacts as one cannot link his/her Tinder account with Facebook or Instagram account to find which one from their friend circle is on the app.

Tinder announced this new feature through its blog telling “Want to try to avoid seeing someone on Tinder? With Block Contacts, you can do just that. Share your device’s contact list with Tinder, select a contact you want to block, and we’ll do our best to prevent you from seeing each other.”

This feature will be voluntary. Tinder will only block the people you have chosen through your contacts. Also, the blocked person will not be notified that you have blocked him/her. You can either add your whole contact list or choose specific contact to block them.

Tinder also said that it will not store every contact’s information from your device but only of those, who you have selected for blocking and you can remove the person from the blocklist at any time.

If a blocked person has created his/her Tinder ID with other information instead of the information given by you, Tinder won’t be able to block that person and he/she might show up to your profile.
