Upcoming plans of Nintendo, Upgraded Switch Console and Games

The Japanese electronic and gaming giant, Nintendo had launched its Switch back in March 2017. For the uninitiated, the Nintendo Switch is a hybrid gaming console. What this means is that gamers can use it as a home console as well as a portable gaming device. Recent developments show Nintendo’s future plans for 2021 for its Nintendo Switch gaming hardware.

Finally, we may see the launch of an upgraded Switch console next year, currently being in the works. Gamers and Nintendo fans may finally get the long rumored high powered Nintendo Switch devices. Not only this. Nintendo even reportedly plans to launch quite a few games in the coming year.

The specs of the newer Switch version haven’t been revealed by any party. However, this will likely be the first major upgrade for the gaming hardware. In fact, a Bloomberg report states that the gaming giant has plans to integrate a higher degree of computing power. Not only this, even the visuals will get a major boost from 4K high definition graphics, as the report states.

Due to heavy competition from upcoming launches such as the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X from Sony and Microsoft, Nintendo may not have many plans for this year of 2020.

As it stands, the existing Switch gameware is based on Nvidia’s 5 years old Tegra X1 SoC processor. We will likely see a new host of games to hit the market along with the new device as well, likely to boost up device sales. This will also target both casual as well as serious gamers. Perfect for satiating both needs- some time of relaxation as well as binge gaming sessions, along or with friends.

While overall Nintendo performance has been decent enough, demand for Switch and Switch Lite has trembled quite a bit recently. However, Nintendo’s games such as Animal Crossing: New Horizons have performed exceptionally well.

Fans can expect to hear more about games such as Metroid Prime 4 and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s sequel. These games were announced long back but fans remain waiting for them even now. So chances for them to be revealed alongside the new Switch version is a high possibility too.

Nintendo does indeed continue to perform well amid the pandemic and lockdown scenario. It may very well be possible for the Nintendo Switch and its upcoming variants to surpass the Nintendo Wii. To give an idea, Nintendo Wii is Nintendo’s best performing home console for gaming with lifetime sales of 102 million units, while it is about 154 million units for the Nintendo DS.

Nintendo is surely vested in taking the Nintendo Switch to greater heights. And 2021 may have a lot in store for Nintendo fans. Be it a new device or a new host of games. So, are you expected to see what the newer Nintendo Switch will be like? Stay tuned to find out more!
