Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced National Digital Health Mission With ID for Every Citizen

On the occasion of Independence Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the National Digital Health Mission. In this mission, every Indian will get a health ID. However, it is up to a person whether they want to get enrolled on the app or not. This will help in easing access to medical services. It will also bring efficiency and transparency in healthcare services in the country. The health ID will store every individual’s medical records. The aim of this mission is to bring revolution in the health sector.

As the name suggests, the “National Digital Health Mission” will be completely digital. It will have personal health IDs for every individual. It will help in digitisation of health records. The pandemic has shown us the importance of digitisation. This new step by the PM will be beneficial for the country.

Four Key Features which the Digital Health Platform will store:

  • Health ID
  • Personal health records
  • Digi Doctor
  • Health facility registry

The health ID will contain data such as medical data, prescriptions. Also, diagnostic reports and summaries of previous discharge from hospitals for ailments. Further, it will be applicable across states, hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, and pharmacies. The Digi Doctor will allow every doctor in the country to enroll and their details.

The National Health Authority has been given the responsibility by the government to design, build, roll out, and implement the mission in the country. Also, they have created the platform, which will be available in the form of an app and website.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, focus on the health sector has increased. A good health sector is very crucial. The Prime Minister also said the country has a roadmap ready for distribution of COVID-19 vaccine. This will make sure that the vaccine reaches every house in the shortest possible time. In addition, three vaccine candidates are in different stages of trials, in India.

The government is also planning to include e-pharmacy and telemedicine services. The regulatory guidelines for the same are being framed. This is a huge step towards making our country Digital in every aspect.
