OnePlus 8T may have been Spotted on GeekBench with Snapdragon 865 SoC
Recently the OnePlus Nord was unveiled with much fanfare and unmatched hype. But they’re not done yet as they surely have their hands busy, working on upgraded models. Now a week after the launch, there’s been reports of another upcoming OnePlus model being spotted on the cross-platform processor benchmark software platform that is GeekBench. With the trend over the recent few years set by OnePlus, this is in line with our expectations of one or two OnePlus T model launches around October- November. This time we may be or not see OnePlus 8T and OnePlus 8T Pro, Let’s see
While all the pizzazz and hullabaloo around OnePlus Nord now fading away, fans await the next models from the mobile developer giant. The OnePlus new handset spotted on GeekBench 5 has the model number KB2001, it may be a OnePlus 8T. It ran Android 11 when it ran the benchmark. That also puts things into perspective as Google is also expected to launch the final version of Android 11 by then already. The Qualcomm chip was nicknamed ‘Kona’ and there are chances that it’s in fact the Snapdragon 865 Plus.
Note that the Snapdragon 865 Plus chip is the same as those used in gaming smartphones like nubia Red Magic 5S, Asus ROG Phone 3, Lenovo Legion gaming phone etc. With 8 GB RAM, it had achieved 912 score points in the single core test and 3,288 points in the multi core test. This seems to be in line with the Snapdragon 865 chipset smartphones.
Considering the fact that the last flagship models of the OnePlus 8 series run on Snapdragon 865 chipset, this isn’t really much of an improvement over the predecessor. However, benchmark scores don’t always reflect the final version and real life performance of devices. So we can expect a much better final output as well. However, on the contrary, these are also easy to manipulate, so the same should be taken with a grain of salt.
There are also reports of the 65W ultra fast charging technology to make its debut with the upcoming launch of OnePlus 8T series. They are expected to showcase a 64 MP primary rear camera sensor with snippets suggesting another 16 MP camera as well. While this is not backed by any reports, fans expect to look forward to the Sony IMX686 to be used for the cameras too.
Generally the T series of devices for OnePlus has been no major upgrade over their non T series counterparts, whether the same can be expected this time around or not, is only something that remains to be seen in the future. While OnePlus had claimed that the Nord device showed them their true North of developing flagship killers, it seems that they intend to go back to providing their signature flagship models at comparatively cheaper rates instead.
What other features can we look forward to seeing in the new handset? We can only wait for more leaks and reports. Are you excited about the soon to be launched devices?
