MediaTek’s Dimensity is a new age brand working for 5G with a motive of super-fast technology. 5G is a giant leap for carriers, device makers, and consumers to innovate and experience things in a completely new way. MediaTek is a budget-friendly brand that produces mid-range SoC segments. However, the company struggles to produce upper mid-range and flagship space because of Qualcomm being a tough competition. Now MediaTek is trying to enter with Dimensity 1000 series, let’s see what MediaTek will offer !
The MediaTek Dimensity 1000
The MediaTek had given up hopes and focused more on entry-level chips. Now it is trying to make a comeback with a new branding, Dimensity. The MediaTek Dimensity 1000 was the first SoC in the latest lineup. It features the latest ARM Cortex-A77 cores, Mali-G77 GPU, and 5G modem that is very impressive. The company has also launched a few more chipsets under the Dimensity brand. MediaTek includes the mid-range Dimensity 800, Dimensity, 820, Dimensity 1000 +. It also unveiled the Dimensity 720 last week.
The Company’s limitations to China
So far, the devices with the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 are only restricted to China. Speculations are that the company is planning to expand the business outside its mainland China. Now, the company is planning to bring the Dimensity chipsets to markets that are outside China. This will bring a revolutionary change to the company and the consumers as well.
During the Quadrant 2 earning call of MediaTek, the company gave us a hint about the chipsets hitting the international market. It has also mentioned the time of the year when this is going to happen.
It revealed a hint that the shipment of chipsets outside of China will begin in the third quarter of 2020. The fact that which OEMs will bring the smartphones powered by Dimensity is still very unclear.
The current list of smartphones using the Dimensity
The following are the list of smartphones that are using the Dimensity SoC:
- IQOO Z1 (Dimensity 1000+)
- Oppo Reno3 5G (Dimensity 1000+)
- Redmi 10X series (Dimensity 820)
- ZTE Axon 11 SE
- Honor Play 4 series
- Honor X10 Max (Dimensity 800)
MediaTek and Qualcomm, these are the two companies we talk about when it comes to processors. But it is not a hidden fact that Qualcomm, due to its efficiency, is better renowned in the market.
With the Dimensity 1000, MediaTek is probably trying to regain the position they owned before in the market. Will MediaTek’s Demiensity be the best decision the company has made so far?
