Microsoft’s cheaper next-gen console named Xbox Series S
Xbox is a video gaming brand. The Company is created and owned by Microsoft. The company is expected to launch its cheaper next-gen console. Xbox Series S appears to be confirmed and it can be launched this year ahead of Xbox Series X’s release. Xbox Series X was announced on December 12th. But its price or exact release date is not revealed yet. The less expensive version of X Box Series X surfaced with the codename, Project Lockhart. Also, it will join the Xbox Series X.
Some images were shared on Twitter by a Reddit user Zakk S, which shows its official name will be the Series S. He somehow managed to purchase one of the next gen controllers. The images also revealed a white Xbox controller Xbox One Elite style D-pad. It has a share button, along with textured grips and triggers. Microsoft has already confirmed the black variant of controller. The images also clearly show packaging material of the controller, which suggests that it is for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Windows 10, Android, and iOS.
The Series S is believed to be a more affordable and less powerful version of the Xbox Series X. Though the company has not officially confirmed any specifications of Xbox Series S, they were spotted in a leaked official document. The leaked document suggested that it can come with 7.5GB of usable RAM rather than the 13.5GB found on the Series X along with an underclocked CPU and a lower performance GPU. In addition, it may support 1080p or 1440p gaming with 4 teraflops of GPU performance. It will have the same chipset as the Xbox Series X.
Xbox Series-S might be even be part of an Xbox All Access subscription plan that reportedly bundles the console and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for a monthly fee.
Sony will also have two variations of its PlayStation 5 hardware. There will be a cheaper, standard unit with digital-only console and no disc drive. Sony has also not announced the pricing of its next-gen console.
As for now, all the specifications are not known. We will not have to wait long for the Series S to be made official. Microsoft will probably unveil the console in late August. Phil Spencer, vice president of gaming at Microsoft, made some comments which suggests that the company will unveil more details about the Series X in August.
