Honor has released two new smartphones in their budget segment. They are named as Honor 9A and Honor 9S. These seem to be a direct rival to the Redmi 9 prime. By the way, both phones will be having Huawei’s app gallery and not Google’s Playstore. Both the phones have a full view display and run on MediaTek processors.
Let us get directly to the specs and features of the two devices.
Honor 9A
The Honor 9A features a 6.3-inch HD+ (1600×720) IPS LCD screen with a water drop notch on it.
It has a 278ppi pixel density , a 20:9 aspect ratio and 81.44% screen-to-body ratio. The phone has a fingerprint sensor on the back. It weighs 185gm and is thick enough. It is powered by Octa core, 2 GHz, Cortex A53 processor. Inside there is a MediaTek Helio P22 Chipset ,this SoC is accompanied by a 3GB RAM and a 64GB storage space. You can also expand the storage using Micro SD cards upto 512GB. It runs on Magic UI 3.1 that is based on Android 10.
There is a triple-rear-camera on the phone .
The camera module consists of a 13-megapixel f/1.8 main lens, a 5-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. On the front there is an 8-megapixel selfie camera. The other features on the device are, it does have a 3.5mm audio jack, an 88-decibel speaker and a party mode feature and NFC .
The device lacks support for Google services and applications. This is kind of a positive thing as we can get rid of continuous track by google for personalized content like ads. It will be having a 5000mAh battery like the Redmi 9 prime and also supports reverse charging.
The Honor 9A will be available in phantom blue and midnight black. The price is Rs.9999 (approximately $133) (Check). But the price during the pre-order period is Rs.8999 (approximately $120).
Honor 9S
The Honor 9S is a lower variant compared to Honor 9A in-terms of specifications and price. It features a 5.45-inch HD+ screen IPS LCD screen and a 18:9 aspect ratio. The device runs on the MediaTek Helio P22 chipset and is paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage.
There is a dedicated microSD card slot and can be expandable upto 512gb . Coming to the camera, the device has a single 8-megapixel camera sensor on the back, along with an f/2.0 lens. You’ll also get a 5-megapixel selfie camera sensor at the front, with an f/2.2 lens.
The Honor 9S has a 3020mAh of battery capacity and It does not support fingerprint recognition, and only supports face unlock. AppGallery is the default app store. We mean it does not support Google Play Store or Google Play services like the 9A. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, and a Micro-USB port.
The price of the Honor 9S is going to be Rs.6499 (approximately $87), and the price during the pre-order period is Rs.5499 (approximately $73) and will be available in blue and black colors.
The Honor 9A will be available on August 6th from 11am. It will be available on Amazon while the Honor 9S will go on sale at 12pm (noon) on the same date through Flipkart. Launch offers on the Honor 9A include an instant discount of Rs. 1,000, whereas the Honor 9S will be available with a Rs. 500 discount.
There will also be an additional 10 percent discount on the Honor 9A for HDFC Bank customers. Furthermore, both phones will be available with no-cost EMI options for up to six months.
