Google will now let you stream videos from all your favourite OTT platforms under one roof. This is amazing news. Isn’t it? You no longer would have to pay for subscription to different OTT platforms. The company has not provided any details about its new move. The latest Canary version of Google Chrome appears to have a hub ready called Chrome Kaleidoscope. It is in the testing stage now.
Paying for subscriptions of different OTT platforms is a huge headache. In addition, wanting to see a series and not having subscription of that particular OTT platform is painful. Also, downloading shows from torrent is a tedious task. Theaters are closed, movies are releasing on OTT platforms, having a subscription has become an essential commodity. All the web series lovers will also agree to this. Binge watching has become a trend in lockdown. Now, google is back again with its exciting offering. It will allow you to watch all your favourite shows under one roof.
Chrome Kaleidoscope Hub
The Chrome Kaleidoscope hub is only available on the Canary version of Google Chrome through the URL chrome://kaleidoscope/. It is the most experimental version of Google’s web browser. However, the page is not functional yet.
The Chrome Kaleidoscope hub shows a tagline saying, “All your shows in one place.” It also shows Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and Disney+ Hotstar. These are likely to be the first three initial offerings. Once a user selects any of the three video streaming services, then a screen comes on the browser saying, “Continue watching across all devices.” At present it does not offer any content. Only a blank page is available. Further, it has a ‘Next’ button that takes users to another page.
The page carries a message that reads, “Chrome Kaleidoscope is not currently available for your account. If you are a Googler check out, go/kaleidoscope-not-available for more information.”
Further, Reliance Jio has also announced a new platform called JioTV+, which also aims at aggregating OTT platforms under one single roof. The company is partnering with platforms like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, Voot, SonyLIV to offer all the content under one roof.
Although, we do not have many details regarding Chrome Kaleidoscope Hub now. But one thing which we know is that it is going to be a hub for streaming video services. Now, watching web shows will become much more pocket friendly. Hopefully, this new feature will be introduced soon.
