While most years we seem to be more focused on the top tier flagship models launched by the various smartphone brands, this year has taken a somewhat different approach. With a multitude of mid-range devices that are being launched in the market, the emphasis seems to be on cheaper handsets which offer flagship-tier features. Google just recently launched their much-awaited Google Pixel 4a and it’s undoubtedly one of their best smartphones launches in years. It plans to take on other mid-range smartphone handsets like the iPhone SE 2020 and the OnePlus Nord. Here we have compared the Google Pixel 4a and iPhone SE 2020 in-terms of specifications, design, features, camera and price.
So now, let us compare the iPhone SE 2020 and the Google Pixel 4a and let’s see if we can decide which comes out on top as the better alternative!
While the Google Pixel 4a will start at $349 (around Rs 26,244) in the US market, it is yet to be revealed when the device will be launched in India and at what price range.
Meanwhile, in the Indian market, the iPhone SE 2020 will set you back by about Rs 42,500 for the 64 GB device, Rs 47,800 for the 128 GB variant and Rs.58,300 for the 256 GB variant.
The Pixel 4a looks very much similar to the Google Pixel 4 with a few changes here and there. With a polycarbonate body, it showcases a 5.8 inch hole punch display with little bezels. The back side has a single camera inside a square module in a manner that is reminiscent of the Google Pixel 4. The back even has a physical fingerprint sensor Titan M security and displays the Google logo located at the bottom.
Coming to the iPhone SE 2020, the design is again similar to the iPhone 8 model with some tweaks. For starters, the Apple logo has been shifted to the centre. It is a small and compact handset having a 4.7 inch display and also brings back the Touch ID sensor. While it has some dated bezels, it also provides some features that may leave Pixel 4a users wanting for more, like an official IP rating and wireless charging. It also has a more premium touch and feel than the Pixel 4a with its glass and metal mix build.
The Pixel 4a offers a 5.8 inch full HD+ and is also HDR+ compliant. The iPhone SE gives a smaller 4.7 inch Retina HD IPS display with a 1,334×750 pixels resolution. It even offers Dolby Vision, HDR10, True Tone and Haptic Touch feedback.
Processor and OS:
The Google’s newest launch in question runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 730G SoC and comes with the Android 10 OS that will be upgraded to Android 11 as and when Google rolls out the update.
The iPhonse SE 2020 is powered by one of Apple’s most powerful chipsets, the A13 Bionic chipset. It is the exact same as the one on which the iPhone 11 series run. It comes running on Apple’s iOS 13.5.1 operating system.
