Google may launch the Pixel 5a in August: Expected Specifications and Price
Google had been wanting to tap into the mid-range smartphone segment for a while before they actually did with the Pixel 3a in 2019. Now, in 2021, rumour has it that the Google Pixel 5a could be set for an August launch. This corresponds to their Pixel 6 series which they will be releasing later this year. There have been several leaks online and on social media but there has been no official communication from the Alphabet owned company.
To pipe down the rumours about a cancellation of the smartphone, Google officially confirmed, earlier in the year, that they will be releasing a mid-range smartphone this year for the audience. A writer from Bloomberg also claims that while it will be announced in August, there is no clarity as to which model (4G/5G) it will be. The company plans to launch the phone in Japan and the US initially, but rumours suggest that it could debut in India as well.
In terms of the expected specifications that the Google Pixel 5a would feature, there have been many leaks and talks among the fans online. We expect the smartphone to feature a 6.2 inch FHD+ OLED display screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. It will probably be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765 SoC combined with a 4GB and 6GB RAM with 128GB of internal storage. It will likely be one of the earlier phones to feature and run on Android 12.
Connectivity options include all the conventional features that you would expect from a smartphone such as Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, LTE, data sync and a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm headphone jack. A rear mounted finger-print sensor and an LED flash is likely to be included in this lightweight, slim design smartphone by Google. For the camera, it is expected to include a triple rear camera set-up with a 12MP primary shooter, 16MP camera and an 8MP shooter as well.
To compete with the mid-range smartphone manufacturing companies, Google will carefully choose its pricing. The Google Pixel 5a is expected to be priced Rs. 35,000 or below.
