Fossil Gen 5 will add a ‘Wellness App’ That Tracks Sleep and Workouts Easily
Fossil Gen 5 smartwatch is going to get a Wellness app. The smartwatches are about to get a Wear OS update that delivers a new health feature. The new features include sleep tracking and enhanced cardio tracker. The company has announced this on its website. The update will be available starting August 19. The was launched in August last year. In Indian market it is available from November.
Three new features to be included on Wellness App for Fossil Gen 5:
- Sleep tracking
- Measuring cardio workouts (such as a run),
- Track your V02 max
The smartwatches come with a heart rate monitor, accelerometer, gyroscope, altimeter, and an ambient light sensor.
The enhanced cardio tracker will be able to estimate your VO2 max. VO2 is the maximum or optimum rate at which the heart, lungs, and muscles can effectively use oxygen during exercise, used as a way of measuring a person’s individual aerobic capacity. It is key for coaching for the 2021 Olympics. Additionally, the app would give you the chance to monitor your exercises utilizing half as much battery utilization.
The phone apps on Fossil Gen 5 would also get avatars for contacts. Along with it will get quick access to key tools. The smartwatches will get new battery modes that include custom profiles for stuff like working out and an extended mode that helps it reach 24 hours. It includes apps like Spotify, Noonlight, and Nike Run Club. It also comes with swim-proof speakers that offer users the ability to make and receive phone calls. You can also connect your Home Devices. You can Adjust your thermostat, Control lights, and Play your favourite music. Furthermore, it allows you to send a text, set a timer and make a contactless payment.
Fossil’s Gen 5 smartwatches is not the first smartwatch to feature sleep tracking or VO2 max monitoring. Samsung Galaxy Watch 3 has features like blood oxygen monitoring. Apple Watch Series 6 also includes a blood oxygen sensor.
The update will be available for the entire Fossil Gen 5 line-up, including watches like the Skagen Falster 3. It is great to see Fossil bringing the feature to the year-old line-up. The Fossil Gen 5 Smartwatch is available for purchase on Fossil’s website or Amazon for $295, and the Wear OS update is scheduled to start going out on August 19th.
