Asus made one of its new gaming laptop announcements. We have seen products across the screen size range, and now they have come with a 17-inch laptop. 17-inches doesn’t mean that it’s thick; it’s pretty thin and has a bit of a trick up its sleeve as well. The Asus ROG Zephyrus S17 is something that we had for a few years, it had a very unusual design as the keyboard could be pulled to the front, which provided a lot of space above the keyboard for thermals, and this made it about 17mm thin, which is impressive and still have high performance. So, 110 watts TGP for the GPU in a 17mm laptop is amazing.
Many people felt uncomfortable about having the keyboard at the front as this is a bit unusual design. A couple of points were that the Asus company was feedback wise and then revamped the Zephyrus S17 a lot. They added a webcam and made the bezels still slimmer than before, which is pretty cool. The volume wheel is made more extensive as well, and a full-size SD card reader is also now added to it on the side.
It has the keyboard folding out just like it has a trick up its sleeve. It’s the exact mechanism or very similar mechanism to what is used in Zephyrus Duo. The keyboard was moved to a standard position where you would expect a keyboard to be on a laptop that generally people feel comfortable with but also provided the best keyboard they have till now. The keyboard is an optical-mechanical keyboard that is clicky, sounds nice, and feels nice. There is a common thing in gaming laptops: the keyboards get at least warm while you are playing games, but here, different modes have been introduced so that the fan speeds up, keeping the laptop surface cooler most of the time.
The ASUS ROG Zephyrus S17 has a cooling gaming panel and very nice RGB lighting. There are also two-panel options, i.e., if you are more of a creator, there is a 4k 120Hz panel option which is helpful if you need all that extra pixel real estate, and there is also a QHD 165 Hz three-millisecond panel option that comes with advanced Optimus. In the previous version laptops, you had to reboot to switch between either getting G-Sync and complete performance of the laptop, absolutely maximum FPS especially in FPS shooters, and if you want a very long battery life with Optimus but in this one with latest Optimus technology, you no longer have to reboot to switch.
Talking about what’s inside the system, it has the latest Intel Tiger lake H45 8-core, fully maxed out CPU-wise, Thunderbolt 4, three Gen 4 SSDs, four lanes in which two directly connected to CPU and one connected to the chipset. They can run in RAID 0 for quick and huge RAID setups. GPU wise, it comes with RTX 3080 with 140 watts which provide high performance. Talking about the price, there are no updates regarding the price, but it is expected to be something in between 1,53,000 INR to 2,30,000 INR.
This laptop comes with very fantastic features, and it has an adaptability to environmental conditions, which justifies its position at the top of the gaming laptops. This laptop would surely give a big competition to its earlier versions, other ASUS gaming laptops and other brand gaming laptops.
