Apple Watch has always been on news for its number of health features which includes advanced heart rate monitoring and cycle tracking.
What is Blood Oxygen Monitoring?
A blood-oxygen monitor displays the percentage of blood that is loaded with oxygen. In simple language, it is the amount of oxygen circulating in the blood. A person’s blood oxygen level is an indicator of how well the body distributes oxygen from the lungs to the cells. It is important for health. And acceptable normal ranges for patients without pulmonary pathology are from 95 to 99 percent.
How will this feature benefit you?
Well, this feature is truly the need of the hour. Apple has surely understood the needs of the people and has clicked the right button. This feature is essentially important in the current Covid 19 situation. It will help you to understand whether you have any irregularities in blood-oxygen level. Checking the level of Blood-oxygen by means of a blood oximeter, which uses an SpO2 sensor, is what first tells whether something is wrong or not in Covid 19 cases. So, will Apple Watch Series 6, will do the work a blood oximeter? Apple can be trusted. This can be really useful for COVID-19 patients who have low oxygen levels. The demand for standalone clip-on-style Pulse oximeters in the market has already risen.
Though, Apple is not the first company to include this feature. Google’s Fitbit also have this feature on recent trackers to measure how your oxygen levels are doing but it measures only while you are sleeping. So, this is a drawback. Apple is going to give tough competition to Fitbit. This is a huge step-forward by Apple. Huawei has also included blood oxygen level readings.
