Indian Computer Emergency Response Team or CERT-In requests all Apple iPhone and iPad users to update their devices to iOS 14.7.1 and iPadOS 14.7.1 as soon as possible as the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology detected some deformities related to security which can turn out to be an advantage for criminals. The Government’s IT security firm said, “A vulnerability has been reported in Apple iOS and iPadOS which could be exploited by a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code and gain elevated privileges on a targeted system.”
The government found a memory corruption problem in the iPhone devices, the issue will affect even the iPhone 6s and later devices, all the iPad models, iPad Air2 and later models, iPad 5th generation models, iPadmini4, and iPod touch (7th generation).
The CERT-In said that remote hackers can take advantage of this deformity and can get remote access, the issue is due to ineffective dealing of the memory and exist on the IOMobileFrameBuffer of the Apple devices. The government is afraid that the users will have to deal with a huge loss if the hackers get through the vulnerability. The government, therefore, is requesting Apple device users to update their devices to apply the security patch immediately. The new version of iOS 14.7.1, iPadOS 14.7.1 and macOS Big Sur 11.5.1 has this bug fixed and the Apple company itself has regulated an alert to notify the users about the risk so that they could update the device immediately.
If you are an Apple device user then please update the device to the latest version to keep yourself from the consequences of this security deformity. Mac users can visit the Apple menu and then choose system preference and then by clicking on Software Update they can update the device. iPhone and iPad users need to visit the Settings of the device and then go to General and then choose Software Update to get the latest version of the software with the fixed issues. While updating the device you need to keep the device plugged with power and connected with Wifi. Tap Download and Install and if the notification comes up to temporarily remove a few apps then choose to cancel or continue, the app removed will be restored after the update is successfully installed on the device.
